Nissan has today unveiled its new Garage 56 entry for the 2014 Le Mans race, as we mentioned a few days ago.
The new car called the ZEOD RC, which stands for Zero Emission On Demand Racing Car, is the world’s fastest electric racing car.
The new ZEOD RC does resemble Nissan’s last Garage 56 entry the DeltaWing and there is a reason for this, Nissan has appointed the original designer of the DeltaWing Ben Bowlby as director of Nissan’s Motorsport Innovation.
The Garage 56 entry is an additional spot on the Le Mans 24hr grid created by the organisers, Automobile Club de l’Ouest, for vehicles that showcase new and innovative technology.
While no exact performance or technical figures have been released as yet, we do know that the electric technology will come from Nissan’s Leaf road car.
So the next 12 months of development and testing will be very interesting to watch in the lead up to the 2014 Le Mans race.
