Its been a busy month of shooting Motorsport

Its been over a month since I last blogged on here.

The reason for this is that there has been a lot going on shooting wise in particular.

In mid February I attended the V8 Supercars pre season test at Sandown Raceway.

The rest of my images are here from the day.

Then it was off the world famous Bathurst race track in NSW for the Bathurst 12hr Enduro race.

More images of the cars in action can be found here

Next up was Rally Calder back in Melbourne, it was the first round of the Australian Rally Championship for 2012.

I was lucky enough to also capture a big accident during the event, an Aston Martin had a huge accident when it his a concrete barrier. The full series of images in the gallery below.

More images from Rally Calder can be found here

Then the final event was a wedding in the Hunter Valley.

Behind the scenes of Studio Car Shoot

Well after my last behind the scenes shoot video, I now have got a bit of handle of the editing of videos togther so I have created another one

This one was shot slightly different as it was shot using time lapse video instead of full motion video, it shows the work that went into moving the cars around the studio and the many movements of the lights involved to create the right effect.

The link to the video is below as well as the link to the full gallery of the final images

The client was Lumley Special Vehicle Insurance check them out if you need your pride and joy car insured

Thanks to Studio 1140 for the hire of the awesome studio and assistant Anthony

Two Cool Magazine Apps for your Ipad

If you already have an Ipad you will know that they are very cool multimedia toys

If not then maybe its time to take the plunge and grab one, Apple even sells refurbed models now at pretty hot pricing.

The first one is Motoring from the guys over at carsales.com.au.

This is the first issue and it look very promising with even video included in some stories

To download and try for your Ipad just click on any of the images to go through the link or check out the Motoring website

Another great magazine that takes multimedia to a whole new level is the Red Bull Bulletin mag app.

This one also uses video as part of the stories but the progression between the two is awesome and has to be seen to be believed and it covers all forms of sport with great action and documentary photography .

The best thing about both these apps is at this stage they are both still free

AIMS – Melbourne Motorshow Press Kits

Press kits are generally given out to the Motorshow attending press members at the end of each presentation, each year there is different types and styles.

Here is a collection from Friday’s media day

Collection of Press kits from AIMS 2011

Press kits come in a common form these days - USB style

Range Rover Evoque Press book

Open up and

No its not a Land Rover Credit Card but a USB key loaded with release and images

Lamborghini took it up a notch by presenting as well a printed release a metal tin with leather covered USB key

Lamborghini printed on one side

Aventador printed on the other

Interesting way to present the all new Kia Rio press kit

Not really a press kit from Jaguar

But plant seeds do make a good "Green" statement

Audi Press kit came in its own metal tin and with a great small pen light

BMW + Mission Impossible 4

Bmw showed off at the Motorshow on Friday their BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept vehicle.

It was nice to see it in the flesh finally, after seeing images on line for a long period of time

I must admit it certainly looks better in the metal then it does in images, so if you are in Melbourne over the next week go check it out at the Motorshow.

When I got back to the office on Friday after the Media Morning, I noticed in among the many press releases to come through there was one from BMW in the UK.

It was promoting the fact that BMW are the offical vehicle supplier of the upcoming Mission Impossable 4 film, which is to be released at the end of 2011.

One of the cars mentioned in the release is the concept I had just been looking at the show, good timing by BMW to help leverage their involvement

Below is a trailer for the film, where you can see the some of the other BMW cars which appear in the film

Full Press Release from BMW after the jump, plus stills from the movie
