X Games LA 2012 – RallyCross & Hot Wheels Double Loop

The X Games have been the pinnacle of action sports for many years.

This year it is the 18th running of the summer event.

At this year’s games there will be 20 different disciplines.

One of those is the RallyCross event.

Rallying has been apart of X Games since 2006.

That year Travis Pastrana took home the Gold Medal not only in the Rally Event, but also won a Gold Medal in MotoX for Best Trick and MotoX Freestyle.

Pastrana will be back but this time in his brand new for 2012, Dodge Dart

He recently also challenged WRC Driver Sebastian Loeb to come race against him at X Games

Earlier this month Loeb accepted the challenge

In the early years of Rallying at X Games, Subaru was the dominant manufacturer as seen here in the famous incident by the late Colin McRae, when he rolled his Subaru on the last turn.

Ford has taken over as the dominant brand so far this season with ex WRC driver Marcus Gronholm winning the first two rounds of the Global RallyCross Championship Season and Ford has been promoting their success so far with some great videos.

ESPN’s channel on Foxtel will showing live coverage of the X Games RallyCross from around 8am on Monday Morning.
Looking forward to seeing all the action

Tanner Foust is doing double duty this weekend, as well competing in the RallyCross Event he will be also performing another big stunt with the Hot Wheels Team.
Just like he did back in May 2011 at the Indy 500. When he broke the world record for a distance jump in a four-wheeled vehicle.

This time he will be attempting the The Hot Wheels Double Loop
What is the Double Loop I hear you ask, check out the videos below as to what it is

Testing for the Double Loop

This jump/dare will be telecast live on ESPN on Sunday, 1 July 2012 at 4:20:00 AM Australian time. So a very early start for those of us that want to watch it live.
